Geoff Cole is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive clinical and administrative experience working in the education, health and disability fields. Geoff obtained a Master of Psychology (Clinical) degree from the University of WA with emphasis on psychological therapies for health problems such as headaches, insomnia, phobias, anxiety and depression. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from UWA, with a focus on strategic planning and organizational change. These interests converged in recent years as he focused on the strategic development of specialist services for people with disabilities and their families (mainly early childhood development and positive behavior services).
His clinical experience includes treatment of phobias, anxiety and mood disorders in adults, recovery from trauma and acute stress, coping with work-related stress and achieving work-life balance. His recent interests include assisting individuals and/or their families to develop psychological resilience in the face of cancer, chronic health conditions (diabetes, heart disease etc) and disability. He is an advocate of positive psychology (which focuses on strengths, capabilities and optimal functioning), and uses evidence-based cognitive behavior therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy approaches in his work.
