Dr Dawson Cooke
Dawson is deeply committed to his role in helping others gain insight, find relief from distress and develop life-giving skills. He draws on a range of evidence based interventions and ways to support adjustment or manage mental/emotional difficulties. Most importantly, he has a genuinely open/curious approach and provides a safe place to explore difficult issues.
A particular interest for Dawson is the parent role, an interest developed though his own parenting experience and his work at Ngala over the past 15 years – facilitating groups, providing professional development workshops and now in a professional advisory role. He completed a Clinical Psychology PhD on father-child relationships and now continues this research interest as a Post Doc Research Fellow at Curtin University. See Dawson's research here.
Appointments for Shenton Park are currently available on Tuesdays.
In addition to his private practice Dawson works
with his wife Sharon supporting families (find out more at FamilyWorks) and provides bulk billed psychology services for addictions with Fresh Start in Subiaco (Thursdays & Fridays).
